I can't remember the first time I heard about God boxes or Prayer boxes.
I made mine about twenty years ago, and have used it ever since.
It is a wonderous thing to open the box every so often,
read the prayers and realize just how many of them were answered.

A fun, easy project, especially for children and Scouts

A wonderful and unusual gift for a parent or grandparent!

Supplies needed: Box (shoe box or craft box)
Craft knife / exacto-knife
Glue
Scissors
String
Aluminum foil
Craft paint and paint brush
Instructions:

Cut an opening in the top of the box, large enough to easily insert pieces of paper.
I make mine between 3/4" and1" thick
.

Glue string on the outside of the box in desired shapes, hearts, crosses, doves, etc.
Let dry.

Cover the top of the box with a thin layer of glue
Quickly place a large sheet of foil on the box.
Press the foil down gently, concentrating on the areas next to the strings.
If more crinkle is desired, lift the foil carefully and replace loosely.
Carefully slice the foil over the box opening, turn edges under and through the opening.
Glue flaps down on the underside.
Glue down the sides of the top, folding the foil as you would a gift box.
Repeat procedure for the bottom of the box.
Line the inside of the box, top and bottom with foil if desired.

Paint the box with acrylic craft paint.
Dry brush on a layer of white paint, filling the cracks and wrinkles in the foil.
Pat with paper towel for opacity desired.
When the paint is dry, take a soft cloth and gently rub the paint in order to remove
the paint on the top of the crinkles and strings.
Add blue or pink, grey, any colour you like, softly or as desired. Play!

If the box is a gift, add your own prayer for the recipient to the box.
